RETREAT REVIEW - YOGA IN KOH PHA NGAN

RETREAT REVIEW - YOGA IN KOH PHA NGAN

"BE GRATEFUL FOR WHOEVER COMES, BECAUSE EACH HAS BEEN SENT AS A GUIDE FROM BEYOND"- RUMI

Coming off a sun-soaked and sangria filled adventure in Spain, on the eve of my first ever Yoga Retreat I wasn't exactly feeling serene. After sharing a bottle of Red and some organic dark chocolate with Lizzie (because it's full of antioxidants, obvs) we couldn't help but LOL at the thought of being sat on a yoga mat meditating for 2 hours a day. For those that know me, once I'm on the party train, it's a hard one to get off.

But then it was goodbye London and (after a 17 hour flight), Hello Blooming Lotus Yoga.

In truth, it was the perfect way to farewell my time in London and commence what would be a 4 month adventure around south East Asia. My love affair with Yoga goes back over 8 years and a retreat had been high on the bucket list for a long time. As a person of extremes who sometimes struggles with balance, I have found Yoga to be such a huge influence on my life.

The stunning location of Blooming Lotus Yoga is unrivalled. The wild & famous Full Moon Party on Hat Rin has over shadowed the simplistic lifestyle the rest of this island has to offer. Accessible primarily by a 15 minute taxi boat year round, the tri-bay area of Haad Yuan, Haad Thien, and Why Nam offer serene getaway with wide accomodation options for all budgets.

It is a world away from the infamous party-scene of the region with its hippy-at-heart vibe, no cash points in sight & secluded traditional thai bungalows tucked away into the hillside. Upon entry, it feels as if life suddenly turns to slow motion without a sense of time or space.

Whether you're a long-time Yogi or just a beginner, Blooming Lotus Yoga is highly recommended.

Here's what to expect:

The Studio - The Blooming Lotus Yoga Studio is situated upon a jungle hilltop, over looking the crystal blue ocean waters, in between Haad Yuan & Haad Tien Bays.

What to expect - Walking around in bare feet all day, daily yoga, broad range of thai and health food cafes.

Accomodation - Thailand Yoga Retreat Packages include accommodations in simple Thai style bungalows surrounded by lush gardens and jungle fauna with the ocean, yoga shala and restaurants just a few minutes walk away.  A perfect compliment to the minimalist yogi lifestyle, these simple, rustic wooden bungalows have a double bed, fan and hammock on the deck. There are higher end accomodation options within a 15 minuet walk from Blooming Lotus.
